In order to make more timely reports to the GAC membership at the monthly meetings, Feile voted to change its meeting date to the last Monday of the month. Meetings are open to all who wish to attend and begin at 7:45.

The Elders

The Elders are appearing in Concert
on January 11th, 2008, at 8:00 pm,
at the Gaelic American Club,
74 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT.

the Fairfield County Irish Festival in past years
and perhaps again this year. The Elders
come from America's heartland, Kansas City,

FESTIVAL 2008

Maura O'Donnell takes the reins this year as Festival Chairman of the 21st Year of the Fairfield County Irish Festival. Other members of the Executive Festival Committee include, Frances O'Neil, Jim O'Donnell, Breda O'Sullivan, Peg O'Leary, Deanna Adams, Jennifer Kristy, Mary Ellen Kovacs, Ellen Regan, Roy McLevy, Dave Boyle, Ed Hagerty, Phil Cheevers, Hilary Koreeda, Ellen Godfrey, John Hurley, and Chris Robison.

The committee is looking for those interested in becoming involved to step forward early. If you would like to get involved visit the FestivalWebsite <www.irishfestival.org> from this point on, there will be information posted as to specific committee needs of the festival committee.

Irish Emigrant Video Project
 
The committee is pleased to report that they have collected over 40 interviews with Irish Emigrants of various ages have been collected since February of 2005. We are grateful to all the people who have come forward and shared their unique stories with us and allowed us to film them for future generations.
 
Each  person's story is immersed with first person reminiscences, feelings, thoughts and insights. Each is a treasured gifts we are grateful to have in our collection. 
 
The recordings, pieces of living history, are being archived at the Gaelic American Club in the form of video tapes and/or DVD’s
 
The volunteer staff of the project, includes 5 interviewers, 7 note takers and one camera man, Kevin Collins, who finds time in his busy professional filming schedule to be a part of our ongoing project. 
 
Our list of prospective subjects is growing. We see no end in sight! If you are willing to share your story or would like information on the project please contact  Peg O'Leary at 261-4944 opeggyo@sbcglobal.net

IRISH SPORTS COMMITTEE

President, Richard MacLean has appointed Tommy Moran and Paddy Coyle as co-chairs of the newly created Irish Sports Committee, who will advise the board on the issues and needs of the sport community. Contact Paddy Coyle at: <coyles135@msn.com> with your requests and/or ideas.


DONATIONS

The Red Tsunami Suitcase, successfully collected $965.00 thanks to the generous support of several groups including the GAC and AOH putting it on display at their functions over the last several months. Feile matched the donations and rounded it up to make a $2,000.00 donation to the Save The Children Tsunami Relief effort. Thank you all for your support!

In the past year Feile has donated $30,000.00 through charitable grants and scholarships. In the past month a $250 hole sponsorship was given to The Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee Golf Tournament and a $100.00 hole sponsorship to The Tom Curtin Fund Golf Tournament.

Donations have also recently been made to the following youth groups who gave their time and effort at the Festival: Saint Patrick's Gaelic Football, $3,200.00. Trumbull HS Marching Band $3,900.00. Trumbull HS Boosters, $2,500.00. Trumbull Police Explorers, $3,100.00. Trumbull HS Irish American Club, $1,500.00. A complete list of donations to date can be had by contacting Richard MacLean..
